Athens Lunatic Asylum

ATHENS, OH - December 29, 2014

When I revisited the Athens Lunatic Asylum for the second time, I started looking closer at things. Looking for things that I wasn't sure I was looking for. There was a wall inside that I saw when looking through the window around the side of the structure. This wall had words on them. The words said:
"I did something terrible. I painted it and now it is out. I opened a door and I (unreadable). Seeing things that I can't explain. I am going crazy. I hear things that aren't there. Something's following me, something evil. It's not going to stop. It's hunting me. I hear it in my sleep. I see it in my dreams A big hulking demon. Help me help me help me."
I found this to be very disturbing and very sad. I am assuming that the message was from a patient that was given drugs that they should have never been given. On the other walls were words as well they weren't as visible. It was as if the patients were using the walls as their diaries, but they wanted to be heard. They wanted help and sympathy that wasn't so cold. Who else was going to speak for them unless it was themselves?
This showed up as we were getting close to the Asylum. I was so excited because I have never seen one of those before. Just a rainbow dot in the sky, a sun dog.
Once again, the vultures were circling the Asylum. What is it that is so interesting to them? What is keeping them there?
