Comparisons in the Art World Can Do More Harm Than Good

I have learned this over time.
Never compare your work to anyone else's. That's what tears you down and makes you want to give up. That's what takes away from the uniqueness of everyone's work. It would be boring if everyone's work looked the same. There's a difference between getting inspirations and ideas and comparing your work to someone else's.
Comparing is where you look at someone else's work and wish it was yours and you get discouraged because you don't see it as being good as other people's work.

Getting inspirations and ideas is where you see someone else's work and it gives you an idea of your own and gives you the path and lights the way for a new idea for you to make something your own. Everyone's work is different and are at different levels. Everyone has their own ideas and life experiences to create art with. There's no need to be perfect. A smart thing to do is take advice from others and give advice to others. It's a constant sharing process. I've learned this the hard way. After people have told me to give up because my work is not good. I don't want others to go through the same thing because it took the joy out of it and added unnecessary stress. We are artists now. And always will be no matter what we do. It's passion. So do not compare your passion to someone else's. Because there is no need to.
