Plumly Mansion & Things Nearby

MASON, WV - May 3, 2014

The original plan was to find the Plumly Mansion, but we met a local that told us where it was. We've been passing by it for years. The local said that he had been inside before and saw shackles in the basement. Possibly from housing slaves?
When we got to the mansion there were no trespassing signs up and the gate to the entrance was closed. It looked like it was being remodeled. I just stood from a distance and got some photos.
It's interesting how things that are now abandoned and decaying are so interesting and beautiful. Why don't we see things that are new in the same way?
There are many farms near the Plumly Mansion. Sadly, most are abandoned.
This farm house just seemed so sad to me. I always like to picture things back when they were first built and in use. Then I imagine how much things have changed. I'm sure it was a beautiful little farm house back when it was first built.
Imagine back when there were animals there and children playing and the parents working. Now everything is gone. All the joy it once had is gone.
It was such a beautiful field that evening. Makes you wish you lived there in that area.
There's even a Victorian House in the area. Too bad it's abandoned as well.
