LEXINGTON, KY - October 3, 2015
The Dreamer Driving Tour takes you to all the filming locations of the movie Dreamer. It is amazing how many places were used to film Dreamer. My family and some other friends all went with me. It was kind of gloomy and cold when we went. We started at the Thoroughbred Park.
Thoroughbred Park has many statues of horses which is neat to see because they are life size and very realistic. Our next stop was Triangle Park.
There was a visitor's center in Triangle Park so we stopped and looked around and then went outside. There was a little park shaped like a triangle in the middle. It was cold so we didn't stay long. Our next stop was the Stable of Memories.
I am unsure of what the Stable of Memories is exactly but I really loved the structure. It was a unique shape for a building. I got out and looked around but I didn't go inside. Next we drove past the Red Mile Harness Track.
We made a quick stop at the beautiful Calumet Farms. I couldn't get over how gorgeous the structures were. They didn't even look like stables.
We saw a farm from the road and pulled over to watch the horses run across the field. It was so amazing to see, especially in front of a barn that looked so gorgeous. After looking at the farms we drove past the Keeneland Race Track and the Manchester Farm.
Our next stop was the Castle Post. I believe it is a hotel but it seemed very up tight. I stood on the outside of the fence to take some photos.
To be honest, I loved the gate details. I love things like that anyway so I had to take photos of it. The gates were closed of course.
The detail of the gate of the castle tells me already how amazing it must be inside. Why is it so closed up? It is such a beautiful place. If it is a hotel then why close it up like that? No one is going to want to stay there if it is going to be closed up.
I wanted to get a shot of the castle but at the same time I wanted to get a shot of the gate, so I got both, I wish I could have gotten closer to the castle but I guess people will be people.
We did find another road to the castle and it seemed to be closer and you could see more of it. There was a gate and a sign that said "No photography beyond this point" So I stood behind the sign. I love the structure. I did hear that it caught on fire a while back... I think?
After driving past Castle Hill Farms and KESMARC, we get to Ashford Stud. Very beautiful place! I wish I could have seen more of it but I understand why they would keep it all closed off.
After driving past Gainsborough Farms we got lazy and just went to the Kentucky Horse Park, which is also part of the Dreamer Driving Tour.
There wasn't much going on at the horse park. It was cold and rainy and there was barely any horses around which is very surprising. I was actually very disappointed.
There was a Paso Fino show going on which was probably the best part of the horse park considering nothing else was going on. We did go to the museums which were warm inside. We didn't finish the trip and everyone wanted to go home. I got so upset because I thought I made everyone miserable by planning the trip and that it was a miserable day. I thought everyone was upset with me. But I guess it went okay. I guess I just want everyone to be happy.
