A Double Decker Carousel? What? I have never seen anything or heard of anything like that before. Until I went to Savannah Georgia.
You might be thinking "What? You have never heard of a Double Decker Carousel?" But yes that is true, I haven't. I have to say it was very impressive and I was very excited to see it.
Recently I have become very interested in carousels. How can something that just spins around in circles become so intriguing? Maybe it's the story each horse or in this case, each animal, has in the creation of the carousel. Or possibly it is the intricate details that catch your eye? Or maybe it is the lights making each horse or animal shimmer as the Merry-Go-Round turns that makes you want a closer look.
Regardless of what it is that makes the carousel intriguing, I have to say, for this one it has to be the second floor of the carousel that interested me. While a single story carousel is beautiful, this one has a second story with unique beauty as well.
I started looking at the workings of the carousel and noticed how the poles are. The outside poles go all the way to the top of the carousel, while the inside poles only go up to the animals on the second story. I think it makes the carousel look very fancy and well designed.
I am unsure of the story of this carousel but I do know that regardless of when it was built, it is enjoyable for children and adults of all ages.
